Do I Need Insurance For My E-Foil?

There is no obligation for insurance in Germany. In Switzerland, you need liability insurance in addition to registration. However, insurance is recommended for every e-foil owner. First, you should contact your liability insurance. Damages caused by the use of an e-foil may be covered - similar to a non-motorized surfboard. The use of surfboards falls under basically the scope of coverage of private liability insurance and also includes other water sports vehicles up to a power of 11.03 kW (15 hp). Most private liability insurances include this in the private liability free of charge.

Damage to your board?
For complete protection that includes damage to your board, standard homeowner's insurance is unsuitable. It is also important to know that damage caused by a clumsy use or accidents is not covered by household insurance.
It is therefore advisable to take out a separate comprehensive insurance for your e-foil. This is the only way to ensure theft, for example. Because e-foils are still rather a novelty in water sports, water sports equipment in this area is not yet covered by all insurance companies. One provider we can recommend is "Nammert". Here you can choose between four additional insurances for your e-foil (liability, hull, legal protection, accident protection) and read more about the topic here. Even if you plan to travel with your e-foil, you should always take out insurance, so that damage caused by careless handling by the airline is covered.
